Farokh Engineer

Farokh Engineer was a last minute replacement for Phil Defreitas at our November meeting and what a great job he did for us. Instead of a prepared speech, he reminisced about his childhood in India, development as a cricketer, his first experience of playing in England and some highlights from his illustrious career.

He was ably assisted by Malcolm Lorimer who, at times, interviewed Farokh and, at other times, made sure he covered some of the key stories from the new book –

'Farokh, The Cricketing Cavalier' Colin Evans, former cricket writer for the Manchester Evening News, looks back at Engineer's career, recalling many magical moments with Lancashire and India though the 1960s and 1970s.

The question and answer session was lively. Farokh promised us a “fun” evening and he provided one.
